contents: The little boy is suggesed a change of air by the doctor, and he travels to France with his mother to spend some time at the countess. Then it is the countess who visits Hungary, and mother establishes a shelter for dogs at the farm of the one-time combination servant of the family. The three of them pay frequent visits in the countess' Citroën to the dog-farm. The two women quarrel a lot, especially because of the secret policemen who seem to be continuously in their heels, but they are basically getting along well. The young boy learns from a greedy class-mate of his - in return for 10 creamy cakes, - that his father has been hanged. This is when mother starts talking about father who has been dead for over 10 years. She tells him that the allowance they receive is the manifestation of the bad conscious of the government, and that is why they spend that money on a dog-farm. The countess brings up the boy to be a politician, while the mother would like to protect him from every wind. The lonely, frustrated boy angers the wildest dog against a little run-away from an orphanage, and the dog bites Sanyika to death. Animals are no better than people - conclude the two ladies, and they no longer visit the dog-farm. | Erzsi Báthory: Sonatas of Chopin, accompanied by dog-barking | |
