The last day of Saint Ivan
Pictures of a film-shooting
Zsolt Mesko shot his first whole evening feature film, called The Last Day of Saint Ivan, between 8 July and 11 August.
The film was shot on location mainly in the Millenary Park, providing impressive external and internal spaces,
but the camera also worked hard in Trafó, at the Elizabeth Bridge and at Chain Bridge.
Seeing the performers, the locations and the sets, we can only reveal about the film that
Zsolt Mesko introduces the world of his shorter feature films into the empire of whole evening feature films.
A bit too hyper real and over-designed about the life of trendy Hungarians around the turn of the century.
In the leading role Iván Kamarás acts as a popular star. Meskó perhaps creates this parallel between the life of the actor and the leading character intentionally. Iván gets shocked at his manager's (Andrea Fullajtár) dirty tricks, so he doesn't need the PR or the image. One day he has to choose: either he gets out of the rat-race and remains with his lover (Orsolya Török Illyés) or continues this overburdened life, which he actually finds boring.
The film is photographed by Sándor Kardos. Besides the above mentioned performers Pál Mácsai, Tamás Jordán and Iván Darvas also play major roles in the film.
