No matter if it is dough, an object or sand, he transforms them, breathes life into them, and gets them to tell us short stories. All of them can offer further food for thought and all of them tell a story about us. Sometimes he dreams of motives, but constantly takes notes, lives on his imagination and relies on his moods. His works are characterised by improvisation and continuously renewing ideas. He never bothers to write a script; how should he know what would come into his mind on the trick-table and what sudden associations would a picture trigger in him? And what could be the most perfect material for all these if not the tiny, transparent grains of soft, easy-to-shape sand? Due to the nature of sand animation, the picture is created only for a moment, which is quickly followed by the next. Everything is in constant motion, no repetition is possible. He compares his works to poetry. A poet expresses his thoughts and his most internal emotions in the lines of his poem, while Cakó in his images. His works are multi-layered with several underlying meanings and a philosophical message of general validity. "What I am striving to achieve is to generate human, emotional and political problems to a level which is Hungarian, but at the same time internationally comprehensible, in order to be able to capture the mind of people anywhere in the world …" - he said once. Everybody can interpret the image according to their momentarily emotional level. Apart from labor-absorbing and time-consuming sand animations, paintings and graphics are also attached to his name. His most remarkable successes were achieved by his sand animations with almost all his films winning a prize at Hungarian and international festivals. Cakó is not tempted by the fast-spreading technical development or the computerised animation. He remained a craftsman even in the world of technology as well. A real homo ludens. At the event organised by Örökmozgó Filmmuseum Cakó introduced us into the world of miracles, which was an extraordinary and exquisite experience for all of us. He was sprinkling and shaping his beloved material, the sand, before our very eyes, and in the meantime we could see his world-famous and award-winning films as well.
